En Windows Vista se ha cambiado la forma (nivel) de autenticación que viene por defecto al acceder a recursos compartidos por otros ordenadores.
Para configurar Windows Vista para que acceda a Mac OSX (u otro equipo via Samba) hay que cambiar lo siguiente:
En las ediciones Business y Ultimate (copio y pego):
1. Click the Start Orb, type gpedit.msc into the Start Search field, and press Enter
Click the Continue button on the User Account Control prompt.?This will launch the Group Policy Object Editor for the Local Computer Policy.
2. In the Group Policy Object Editor, expand:
-> Computer Configuration
-> Windows Settings
-> Security Settings
-> Local Policies
-> Security Options
3. Open the ‘Network security: LAN Manager authentication level’ policy and change the Security Setting to:
Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated
4. Click the OK button to save changes, and then close the Group Policy Object Editor.

Para las versiones "Home" hay que modificar un valor directamente en el registro
(copio y pego):
1) Goto Start—>Run—> and type regedit
Select Continue on the User Account Control prompt.
2) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Lsa
Create the following DWORD value (if it doesn’t exist):
LmCompatibilityLevel
And set its value to:1
(otro copio y pego)
1. Click Windows Visa Start Orb
2. In search box, type "regedit" and return
3. Once regedit opens, click File -> export to make a backup copy
4. Navigate to ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlLsa.
5. n the right pane, right-click the "LmCompatibilityLevel" key and select "modify"
6. Change the value from 3 to 1
7. Exit regedit
